While I think you need to be careful when choosing freelancers on Elance.com and Guru.com, it can help you immensely to work with them. For example, with this book that is now completed, I wanted to have the school listings, about 100, put into a Microsoft Access database. This will make the next edition that much easier to compile and I can input entries throughout the year.
Now I could have spent a significant amount of time putting all of the information into a database. Or I could spend a very little money and hire someone to do it for me. It's a no-brainer.
No, it's really not my birthday. However, it was the 7th anniversary of Elance.com, purveyor of fine (and sometimes not-so-fine) freelancers. Because I contracted for a freelance project (an e-book cover) during October I was one of, I think, seven winners of $100. I can always put that to good use. I can't recall the last time I won anything. Sweet.
