As promised, I will be chronicling my adventures and misadventures here as my Degree Press works toward publishing its first book this spring. I've decided to be as transparent as I possibly can be. And, yes, that means if I blow it, you will all know I've blown it. Cool, huh?
What does this mean? It means that I'm, for the most part, going to give you names, places, dates, and amounts. You will know how much I pay (or don't pay) for typesetting. You will know who I ultimately use for copyediting. You will know how much it costs to print the book and how many copies are printed.
When I get to marketing the book, I will let you know what works and doesn't work for me. I'll let you know where I go, who I talk to, and how many copies I sell.
So where am I at now? I'm woefully behind on the actual writing of the book. The goal is to have the writing completed by December 31, 2004, and I am nowhere near that point. Here's your first chance to see me fail: "Will he make that deadline? Stay tuned; same Bat time, same Bat channel!"
